Lower Hutt builders. Heritage, residential, commercial.
Sam Guerin runs a nine-person crew with in-house architectural design and quantity surveying. Eight years on the tools across Wellington. Honest pricing, careful work, no surprises.
Six lines of work, two of them rare.
Most Wellington builders sub out architectural and quantity surveying. SGB does both in-house, which means design, costing and build sit under one roof and one schedule. Fewer handover gaps, fewer surprises at month-end.
Residential construction
New homes, additions and full renovations. State-house overhauls, character villas, modern infill. Most of our work sits here.
Detail CommercialCommercial construction
Fit-outs, retrofits, heritage commercial work. We have done window replacement on Burger Liquor's Willis Street brick and ten years of maintenance at St John's in the City.
Detail RenovationsRenovations & interiors
Bathrooms, kitchens, half-house remodels, recladding, deck builds. The volume work that keeps the crew sharp.
Detail In-house, rareArchitectural design
Sylvia Main, LBP AoP 2, designs the work we then build. Project ThirtyTwo was drawn here.
Detail In-house, rareQuantity surveying
Nathan Wilson costs the build before we sign anything. Honest numbers, with the people doing the work standing behind them.
Detail ThroughlineProject management
Site foremen run the day-to-day. You get one point of contact, one schedule, one budget. No middle-man markup.

Family owned. Nine on the tools. Lower Hutt since 2017.
Sam Guerin started SGB in November 2017. Eight years later it is a nine-person crew with two LBP project managers, three site foremen, an in-house architectural designer, an in-house QS, a qualified roofer and an apprentice. Sylvia Main is co-owner.
We work mostly in Lower Hutt and the wider Wellington region. Heritage carpentry, residential renovations, state-house overhauls, the occasional commercial fit-out. We write about the work as we do it.
